The Lupton Park Community Garden is a not-for-profit, community based enterprise producing food primarily for the consumption of the gardeners. It is a community managed, multi-functional garden space, carefully designed to provide a wide range of environmental, social and economic benefits. It provides an innovative place to grow organic food, and to share, educate and grow community.
Community Garden Objectives: • To sustain a unique, safe and supportive garden for residents, welcoming of all citizens, including children and young people, elderly, indigenous and multi-cultural backgrounds and people with disabilities. • To promote education, sharing and a sense of community, where trust, effort, knowledge, skills and responsibility are shared. • To promote and utilise sound environmental practices.
Development Milestones: July 2013 Public meeting to determine interest- working group formed February 2014 Lupton Park site selected May 2014 Incorporated Association formed to develop and manage Garden June 2014 Neighbourhood Consultation July 2014 Lease signed with Council November 2014 Official Opening May 2015 Stage 1 development complete July 2015 Shelter Shed constructed and stage 2 garden development commenced. July 2015 Japanese Sister City- Kasukabe delegation visits the Garden September 2015 Costa visits the Commmunity Garden; and Community Garden participated in the Maryborough Open Gardens event (one of many private and public gardens open for inspection. December 2015 Stage 2 development completed March 2016 Garden seating constructed by Older Men Unlimited with timber supplied the Endeavour Nangarin Mill completed.
